OZWE was founded in 2008 by an engineer, Frederic Kaplan and an indutrial designer, Martino d'Esposito. Kaplan, now researcher at EPFL (Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne), worked ten years for Sony, creating brains for entertainment robots. d'Esposito, teacher at ECAL (The University of Art and Design Lausanne), designs objects and furniture for several companies including Ligne Roset, Cinna, Neweba and Monodor.
OZWE creates disruptive interfaces and objects that permit to interact physically with digital data. We have developed interactive systems ranging from gesture-controlled displays to multi-touch screens. These new technologies transform radically the experience of interacting with computers. In a complementary manner, we also offer solutions to store data on-line and access it in different manners. We believe that the personal computer era is over and that it is time to invent a new model.
OZWE creates interactive systems for home entertainment, but also provides solutions for hotels, restaurants, fitness and spas, museums and retail stores. We also offer our services and know-how to others companies that wish to change the interactive experience of their customers. As a swiss company based in Lausanne, we make no compromise on the quality of our products and collaborate with the best research labs, high-tech companies and design agencies in Switzerland. A product like QB1 is the result of several years of research at the CRAFT Laboratory of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne. We believe that to produce really innovative devices it is mandatory to bridge the gap between academic research, design and marketing.
