In sharp contrast with the traditional plastic shell of personal computers, d'Esposito has chosen to equip QB1 with a fabric slipcover. This slipcover smoothes the movements of the machine in natural ways. He worked with Eve Caroppo, a dressmaker from Lausanne to create QB1's clothes. Using high-end fabric for their intrinsic robustness qualities, it took many attempts to come up with a result matching the quality standards that they wanted.

Movement

QB1 is a robotic computer, that follows human faces and gestures. Once it sees you, QB1 follows your movements. Unlike a computer, which requires you to stop what you're doing and adapt your behavior and social interactions in order to use it, QB1 blends into human space and acts like an attentive partner.

Interactivity

With its social skills and physical presence, QB1 introduces the simplicity of everyday interactions in the world of computers. In just a few seconds, you'll learn how to browse into QB1's interactive menus and selection tools. Even if you are a few meters away, you can continue interacting with simple gestures. At last, a human friendly interface...

Intelligence

Unlike a traditional computer, QB1 knows who it is interacting with. Its behavior and interface autonomously adapt themselves based on your shared history. Day after day, it learns more about your habits and uses this knowledge to entertain you better.  For instance, it tries to choose music as you would do. For this, QB1 features a unique multi-expert prediction system combining the best artificial intelligence techniques available. Each expert has its own way to predict what would be the best music to play given the context and QB1 learns to select which expert to trust at a given moment.
